President Bashar al-Assad discussed on Thursday with Dutch Foreign Minister, Maxim Verhagen , the standing bilateral relations , the developments in the Iraqi and Lebanese arenas, particularly the dangerous situation in the Palestinian arena, and to what the Palestinian people are exposed of the Israeli practices and siege that do not serve stability in the region ,and the necessity for the international community to shoulder its responsibility in lifting the siege on the unarmed people and opening the crossings.
The President stressed that security and stability can not prevail in the region without the establishment of just and comprehensive peace which is based on the resolutions of international legitimacy, the land for peace principle, and the return of rights to their owners and refugees to their lands.
President al-Assad reviewed Syria's stances toward the current overall issues regional and internationally.
The president also stressed the necessity to make the Middle East region free of weapons of mass destruction , and the rights of countries to use nuclear energy for peaceful means.
