President Bashar al-Assad received a letter from his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Wald Al-Sheikh Abdullah on the bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries conveyed by Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Mohamed Saleck Wald Mohamed Lemine.
That came when President al-Assad received the Mauritanian Minister on Monday where both sides reviewed the Arab issues, the political developments in Mauritania during the past two years, prospects of cooperation between the two brotherly countries and means of consolidating the relations between them in all domains.
Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad, the accompanying delegation to the Mauritanian Minister and Mauritanian Ambassador in Damascus Mohamed Lemine Wald Yehya attended the meeting.
Later, Vice President Farouk al-Shara resumed the talks with the Mauritanian Minister in the presence of Dr. al-Meqdad and the Mauritanian Ambassador.
Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Otri and Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem also met the Mauritanian Minister.
In a statement to reporters, the Mauritanian Minister said his talks with President al-Assad and other senior officials dealt with means of boosting the bilateral ties between the two countries.
"I was honored by listening to President al-Assad's opinions on the basic issues on the Arab arena…and his directives to work to give the bilateral relations a new momentum," he added.
