President Bashar al-Assad and Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani held on Friday evening a plenary meeting followed by a closed-door meeting at the People's Palace.

Talks dealt with the distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways of strengthening them.

The latest developments in the region and issues of common interest were also reviewed during the meeting.

Both sides stressed the necessity of the continued cooperation and coordination between the two countries in service of the Arab issues.

Later, President al-Assad and Sheikh Hamad completed their talks during a dinner banquet in honor of Sheikh Hamad. Members of the two official delegations attended the banquet.

The Qatari Emir and the accompanying left Damascus on Friday evening. Sheikh Hamad was seen off by President al-Assad and senior Syrian officials.

Earlier, the Qatari Emir and the accompanying delegation arrived in Damascus on one day official visit to Syria. Upon arrival at Damascus International Airport, he was welcomed by President al-Assad and a number of Syrian ministers and senior officials.
