Vice President Farouk al-Shara Wednesday discussed with a delegation of the Council for National Interest in Washington peace in the Middle East and the obstructive role played by the current US administration during the last seven years.
During the meeting, there was a comprehensive evaluation of Syria's positive and important role in finding just solutions to the region's issues in addition to Israel negative and escalating role to prevent achieving this goal.
Viewpoints were concordant on the necessity of improving bilateral ties in the future.
In a statement following the meeting, Member of the delegation Richard Bilis said "we held very fruitful talks on a number of pending issues related to the Syrian-American ties and regional issues."
"When we get back to the United States, we will convey a message of hope to the American People about the possibility of improving relations between the two countries in the future and realize peace in the region," he added.
The delegation included Robert Kelly, Milton Furest, Daniel Lieberman, Marline Garit, Grace Austin and Richard Bilis .
The Council for the National Interest is a non-profit, non-partisan grassroots organization advocating a new direction for US Middle East policy, it calls for the Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Arab territories.
